The controversial West Quay planning application was firmly rejected by the Council’s planning committee on 2 November. The plans submitted included a 12 storey high tower block and surrounding buildings which exceeded the maximum build height as set out in Poole’s Core Strategy for the regeneration area. Local Cllr Carol Evans spoke out strongly against the application at the Planning meeting commenting that it would be shameful if the unpopular application was approved particularly given that the height and density of the development would overshadow the Twin Sails Bridge and overwhelm neighbouring residential areas. It is hoped that future applications submitted by Developers will more fully take into account the concerns of local residents and will respect the maritime heritage of Poole and its Core Strategy.
