Raising public's awareness of human trafficking in and around Poole

Cllrs. Mrs Carol Evans and Mrs Xena Dion are supporting a campaign to raise the public’s awareness of human trafficking in and around Poole.  Working with Churchill Contract Services, the Soroptimists of Poole and the Purple Teardrop Campaign posters have been placed in all of the town’s public toilets.  The posters explain, with pictorial help, how victims of trafficking or anyone who suspects trafficking is occurring can contact a national helpline.

Relationship with Europe isn't working

Our relationship with Europe isn’t working and it needs to change.Last year, I set out a clear plan – seek a new settlement for Britain in Europe, and then put it to the British people in an in-out referendum by the end of 2017.Today Ed Miliband has made his position crystal clear – there will be no referendum under Labour.Only the Conservatives will guarantee and deliver that referendum. It will only happen if I am Prime Minister.

CO-OP  The new Co-op is rapidly taking shape, Councillors Mike Wilkins and Mike White visited to review developments. OLD FIRST SCHOOL  Things are moving fast on this site, with several houses having already been sold and work is well underway turning the Old First School itself into houses. Work should be complete by early summer. 

Poole Council Budget 2014/15

BUDGET 2014/15 AGREEMENT On Tuesday this week the budget for the next financial year was approved by Poole Council. This budget was based on sound Conservative principles it was balanced and the Government cuts of £4.2 million during 2014/15 are absorbed without affecting front line services.

European Maritime Day

Julie Girling, MEP and Robert Syms MP met with Poole Harbour Commissioners, Jim Stewart, Cllr Elaine Atkinson, Leader of the Council and Cllr Xena Dion Portfolio Holder for a Prosperous and Sustainable Poole to discuss European Maritime Day, which Poole is hosting in May 2017. This internationally important maritime Conference brings together key stakeholders involved in the maritime sector from shipbuilding to offshore energy, the coastal environment and tourism to address the major challenges they face.
