On behalf of Poole Borough Council, Cllr Mohan Iyengar accepted two awards from the Federation of Small Business in a Wessex Region ceremony on Friday, 16 September. Against all other councils in Dorset, Poole Council and its Economic Development Team won the 2016 award for ”Most Innovative Small Business Friendly Programme” and was highly commended for this year’s “Best All-Round Small Business Friendliness” award.

Cllr Iyengar: “This is a great result for Poole. Our town is already in the top 5 for start-ups in the UK and this award shows that we help businesses grow. But this isn’t the moment to sit back. The year ahead will bring further challenge and businesses from small to large will need help. For example, help with skills and funding, contacts and premises. So I’ll be looking to use our pro-business policies in the Conservative Group, along with the business experience, of our members, to take us further forward and support the growth and jobs that will underpin our success.”

Canford Cliffs Councillor Mohan Iyengar is the Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Economy, Culture and Leisure in the Borough of Poole.
