01/12/2006 - LOCAL CONSERVATIVE NHS CAMPAIGNERS COMBINE TO LAUNCH PETITION ABOUT LOCAL NHS UNDERFUNDING

Local Conservative NHS campaigners across Poole and Purbeck area are to join forces to launch a petition to protest about persistent Government underfunding and Mismanagement of the local health services in Dorset.  MP for Poole Robert Syms and recently selected Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Mid Dorset and North Poole Cllr Nick King will operate street stalls in Wareham, Poole Town Centre and Canford Heath to launch the petition, which will go to Parliament when complete.

The launch of the petition will form part of the second day of action undertaken by local Conservatives in support of their ‘Say Yes to the NHS’ campaign, protesting at current government NHS policy.

Ahead of the launch of the local NHS petition, Mid Dorset and North Poole PPC Nick King says: “NHS Job losses, hospital cutbacks and closures are a bitter blow for local residents - responsibility for the underfunding of the NHS lies firmly at the door of the Department of Health in Whitehall.”

MP for Poole Robert Syms said “The Conservatives have warned the Government many times about the pressures faced by our local NHS, yet since then, the situation has continued to get worse.”
