Conservative policy will always be to secure for our young people the best opportunity in life. We will ensure that they have access to a good education and training so they can maximise their potential and become valued members of society.
Poole’s youth unemployment rate is below the national average and we are determined to reduce it further. During the next 2 years Government legislation requires every 16 to 18 year old to be in employment, education or training.
We have done much to achieve this objective, already having invested £23 million in our schools, which now provide educational and training opportunities that would not have been available to previous generations.
In this year’s budget we are providing 10 more Poole Council apprenticeships and funding a £50,000 initiative with local businesses to provide more opportunities for young people.
We are proud of our youth and proud of Poole and we will work tirelessly to improve the prosperity and future of both.
