COUNCIL TAX TO BE FROZEN FOR A SECOND YEAR

Work is in hand to ensure a balanced budget for 2012/13.

Although faced with reduced Government support and funding due to the previous Labour Government’s economic mismanagement, Conservatives aim to protect the most vulnerable in our society, whilst maintaining and enhancing the services that we provide for our residents.

This year we must find £6million of additional savings, which would give a total of £33million of savings to date.

Poole’s Cabinet has approved the key assumptions and principles which must be observed as the Council’s financial strategy is developed. Views of members of the Overview & Scrutiny Committees are now being sought on the budget proposals thus far.

The good news for residents is that the Conservative Administration in Poole are proposing to freeze Council Tax 2012-13, for a second year in a row.
